Piano Tuition

READINESS

Generally, children are not ready for individual musical instruction until the age of at least 6 or 7 years. It has been found that their progress on an instrument is enhanced where they have attended preschool music enrichment classes, such as Kindermusik and Musikmakers, as a foundation has been laid for musicianship through rhythmic activities, singing, movement and musical notation skills.

LESSONS

Individual piano lessons for adults and children are 30 minutes once a week during the school term. When the student is preparing for examinations, it may be necessary to increase lessons to 45 minutes.

CONCERTS

Two concerts will be held each year - in term one and term three. Recitals offer students the chance to share their music and to develop performance skills. All students are encouraged to participate.

EXAMINATIONS

While it is not recommended that students work solely towards examinations, they can be of immense value at times in their progress. When appropriate these will be discussed with the parent and student.

FEES

Tuition fees are $20 (30 minute lesson) and $30 (45 minute lesson). Fees will be charged on a termly basis unless otherwise arranged.

VENUE

Piano lessons are held in Mount Barker at the home of Carol Bromley.
